Born in Hereford, Herefordshire, Tom Price discovered a talent for comedy during his youth. This led to his involvement in stage productions at Warwick University, from which he obtained a degree in English literature.

Having decided against attending drama school, Price instead pursued acting jobs in London.

The following year, Price made a handful of appearances in the Doctor Who spin-off series Torchwood; he played PC Andy Davidson, the former colleague of Eve Myles' Gwen Cooper.
