Madison guthrie miss alabama autobiography

A Shelton State Community College student was crowned Miss Alabama USA on Nov. 15 at the Montgomery Performing Arts Centre in Montgomery.

Nineteen-year-old Madison Guthrie represented Hoover in the competition.

Guthrie, an interior design major at Shelton State, said she has pursued modeling and acting over the past two years, which is how she stumbled into the Miss Alabama USA pageant.

Before the pageant, most people recognized Guthrie as the Alabama football fan in the ESPN “Who's In?” commercial.

But she said it was a photographer at Southern Exposure Photography who suggested she compete in the pageant during a photo shoot.

For almost a year, Guthrie followed a healthy diet, exercised and took lessons to learn how to walk properly in a swimsuit and evening gown.

“It's unbelievable how much time it takes,” Guthrie said.
